Israel has killed a high-ranking Iranian common in an airstrike in Syria, in response to Iranian state media.
The strike killed Seyed Razi Mousavi, an adviser to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Syria, within the Sayida Zeinab neighborhood of the capital Damascus. The IRGC is a department of the Iranian navy.
Iran’s state-run information company reported that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated that Israel pays for Mousavi’s demise. Raisi stated Mousavi was an in depth affiliate of the deceased Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in 2020.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated the Israeli navy focused Mousavi after he entered a farm within the space, allegedly certainly one of a number of places of work for the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran.
The strike comes amid continued clashes between Israel and Hezbollah alongside the Israeli-Lebanese border.
